If you travel by train regularly, planning on doing so, then further savings can be made using a Railcard

 

There are two types :
National
Regional

 

The name of each describes the discounts available :

National -

16 -25 -
1/3 off most Standard fares
1/3 off most First Class Advance and Weekend First fares

Journeys between 04:30 and 10:00, Monday to Friday, a minimum £12.00 fare applies
Mature students, 26 and over, may also be eligible

 

Family & Friends -
1/3 off most Standard fares and 60% off child fares
Valid for Weekend First fares

 

Senior -

1/3 off most fares, including both Standard and First Class
 

Disabled Persons -
1/3 off most fares
Companion (an adult travelling at the same time) eligible for the same 1/3 off most fares
 

Network -

1/3 off most fares in the London area  

Valid after 10:00, Monday to Friday
A minimum adult fare of £13.00 applies on all journeys Monday to Friday
A minimum child fare of £1.00 applies on all journeys Monday to Friday
