Online booking -

Online booking allows you to perform both plan a journey and book tickets in one place, either from home, work, or on the move; searching for suitable journeys and buying tickets

 

Online booking means the tickets will not be issued to you directly
You will then be given various options for the issuing of your tickets

 

Please be aware that some third party providers apply various charges when Online booking

This is tickets sent by Royal Mail 1st Class post

 

Recorded :

This is tickets sent by Royal Mail 1st Class Recorded post

 

Next Day :
This is tickets sent by Royal Mail Special Delivery Next Day before 1PM service

 

Ticket sales are assumed up to £500 in value

Costs for Next Day may be higher where ticket sales are £500 and over

 

Season Tickets are typically sent by Royal Mail Special Delivery Next Day at a slightly reduced cost

 

Third party providers -

My TrainTicket is a relatively new third party provider

There is an additional £1.00 booking fee

Credit Card charges are 2.95%

 

Raileasy is also a relatively new third party provider
There is an additional £2.00 booking fee

Credit Card and Debit Card charges vary between £0.45 and £0.75

 

Red Spotted Hanky is another relatively new third party provider
There are no additional booking fees or charges, making them the cheapest third party provider and our recommendation
There is also a loyalty scheme, useful if you regularly purchase rail tickets

 

thetrainline.com is a well established third party provider

There is an additional £1.00 booking fee
However they provide details of all services and are impartial from any train company

The most expensive provider is shown in RED

This is based on a £25.00 ticket sent by each of the four available collection methods
